Autumn and the Black Jaguar is a 2024 adventure family film directed by Gilles de Maistre. The story follows Autumn, a young girl who, after spending her early years in the Amazon rainforest, forms an extraordinary bond with a lost jaguar cub she names Hope. A tragic event compels Autumn and her father to relocate to New York City, leaving Hope behind. Years later, at the age of 14, Autumn learns that her childhood village is threatened by animal traffickers targeting the rainforest’s wildlife. Determined to protect her beloved jaguar and her former home, she resolves to return to the Amazon.
Despite the apprehensions of her well-meaning but clumsy biology teacher, Anja, who attempts to dissuade her from the perilous journey, Autumn remains steadfast. Anja ultimately joins her, and together they embark on a daring expedition to reunite with Hope and confront the forces endangering the rainforest and its inhabitants. The film explores themes of friendship, environmental conservation, and the resilience of the human spirit. Notably, actress Lumi Pollack, portraying Autumn, spent over a year bonding with the jaguar from infancy to authentically depict their deep connection on screen.
