Dragonkeeper is a 2024 animated fantasy adventure set in ancient China during the Han Dynasty. The story follows Ping, a young orphan enslaved by the cruel Master Lan, who discovers two captive dragons, Long Danzi and Lu Yu, in her master’s dungeon. After Lu Yu’s death, Ping learns of a dragon egg—representing the last hope for the dragon species—and embarks on a perilous journey with Long Danzi and her pet rat, Hua, to deliver the egg to the ocean and ensure the survival of dragonkind.

Throughout their adventure, Ping uncovers her own magical abilities and the significance of her role as the hereditary Dragon Keeper. Facing threats from the emperor’s men and the sinister dragon hunter Diao, she demonstrates courage and growth, transforming from a frightened servant into a determined protector. The film explores themes of self-discovery, responsibility, and the preservation of endangered creatures, all set against the backdrop of ancient Chinese landscapes and cultural elements.
