Kadamaiyai Sei (2022) is a Tamil-language psychological action-comedy drama directed by Venkatt Ragavan. The film stars S. J. Suryah as Ashok Mauryan, an unemployed civil engineer who becomes a security guard at a luxury apartment complex. Ashok discovers structural flaws in the building, but before he can alert the authorities, he suffers a traumatic accident that leaves him in a stupor—a near-comatose state. Despite his condition, Ashok attempts to prevent a looming disaster, as the building is at risk of collapsing due to sabotage by Raj, the antagonist and brother of the builder Dharmaraja.
While the film presents a unique premise, it received mixed reviews from critics. The Times of India rated it 2 out of 5 stars, criticizing its amateurish execution and flawed writing. Cinema Express also noted the film’s inconsistent tone and substandard execution, giving it a rating of 1.5 out of 5 stars. Despite S. J. Suryah’s committed performance, the film’s presentation and character development were seen as lacking, resulting in a less impactful viewing experience.
